When I was a student pastor in a little, unpainted, suppose-to-be white church, and I remember one morning after I’d finished preaching, there was a country boy there, waiting. And after everybody had left, he came up to me, tears came down his eyes. And he shook hands and he says, “I didn’t know Jesus was so wonderful!” Then he wanted to say something else, and he couldn’t say it; he choked up. He turned and walked and started across the cotton patch right by the church. And I stood there and watched him. I said, “Oh, God, I want to preach so people will think that Jesus is wonderful.”
