Every year during my childhood, right about this time of year, my mom would reenact the grueling ritual of spring housecleaning. She took it very seriously! Like a soldier on a search-and-destroy mission, she methodically probed every corner and closet. After days of backbreaking labor, the house was sparkling clean, and it felt great. Just as houses need cleaning, sometimes we need to do spiritual housecleaning as well. Spiritual housecleaning begins with Godly introspection, and that should lead us to repentance. The fruit of repentance is often times spouses forgiving each other, and discovering a fresh joy, hope, and oneness in their relationship. One final thought. Repentance shouldn't just happen once a year -- like spring housecleaning. Make it part of your daily life, and your relationship with God and your family will flourish. I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's real, clean Family Life.
